Success in the making

Experienced teachers

An experienced teacher for us is not dependent on how many years you have been working. Instead we feel experience is about what YOU have learned and how you apply it. We want to see that you are a reflective practitioner and have developed your skills as an educator and will continue to do so in Hackney. We feel teaching is a vocation and, for us, experienced teachers should still have the same motivation, desire and commitment they had the first day they stood in front of a class. In addition we look for:

• A DCSF recognised Teaching qualification and evidence of successful, relevant teaching expertise
• A keen understanding of the National Curriculum and the principles of assessment
• Familiarity with appropriate learning environments and the provision of the right resources and equipment
• Plenty of effective teaching and learning strategies
• Knowledge of basic classroom organisation and behaviour management
• The ability to work as part of a team, to communicate effectively and to assess the development, progress and attainment of pupils
• The ability to create and support links between home, school and other agencies and an awareness of policies concerning Equal Opportunities, Health and Safety, and Safeguarding of Children
• A commitment to your own continuing professional development
